Welcome to Taurean Scatology

In other words, bullshit.

It is important to realise and understand that bullshit is dangerous. It can get you killed.

Of course for most people this is probably unlikely. It is more likely to hurt in many different ways.

It is the stock in trade of the Conman. If you believe his bullshit then you will do something that will harm you and benefit him. You will lose something.

If I were to claim that you can walk of the edge of a cliff and come to no harm if you flap your arms hard enough, you would say bullshit. And rightly so.

What if I were to say that you have just won a lottery and all you need to do is go to a Web Site and confirm your credentials to get it. Bullshit right? You never entered the lottery, but here is the thing, people do exactly that.

What if I were to tell you that mask wearing and social distancing are not necessary in the Covid pandemic. Bullshit or not? If you do not know then you should be concerned. People who have done that have become infected and died as well as infected who then died. Is that bullshit? Bingo! Welcome to Lesson Number 1:

Ask the question: “Is that bullshit?”.

How do you know? You can toss a coin if you like and have a 50/50 chance of being right, but you will not know whether you are right or wrong, until it is too late.

Most people will come to conclusion. So how to some people come to one conclusion and some people another, For the same thing, Does that make sense? It does if you understand that as a species were are dysfunctional.

But it should concern you. A lot. If some people say one thing and others another, then how do I know which one is right? Bingo! Welcome to Lesson Number 2:

Ask the question “How do I know?”

This is the point at which what you do will determine how this goes. It should be obvious that bad information will lead to bad conclusions, and good information will lead to good conclusions. So the first job is to find good information. Bingo! Welcome to Lesson Number 3:

How do you know it is good information?

Now you are on the road to reason. The next bit can be messy even difficult. It involves finding out. How do I do that? Where do I look? Who do I ask? We will contemplate this in more detail in another Post.

It means finding out what different people have or are saying or writing about it. Then you have to decide who you can trust. Trust the wrong people and you will make bad decisions. That is how it works…
